The 3 varying firmness options of the Alexander Signature Hybrid all make use of the same basic structure, but with somewhat different foams and densities. Each bed begins with 8 inches of individually-wrapped support coils. The next layer is 1 inch of “SmartFlow” support polyfoam, that is made to add airflow and aids with heat retention. Each firmness level utilizes 3 PCF (lbs per cubic foot foam within this layer. The following layer is 1.5 inches of either 2.5 PCF copper-infused “Energex” polyfoam (Plush), 3.5 PCF copper-treated Energex polyfoam (Medium) or 4.5 PCF slow-recovery memory foam (Luxury Firm). The last layer is 1.5” of “TitanChil” cooling polyfoam. The bed cover is 1.5” of 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam within a quilted, cooling cloth. This gives a gentle feel.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is available in 3 firmness settings: Plush (3), Medium (5) and a Luxury Firm (8). Firmness level is based on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most firm and 1 being the least firm. You can choose between Plush, Medium, and Luxury firm. Weight is crucial on what you would prefer. Generally, heavier people prefer firmer mattresses while lighter people usually discover they can achieve more hug and contour on softer mattresses.
Hybrids usually do not isolate motion as well as all-foam beds usually do, because springs allow movement to more easily move through the surface of the mattress. The Alexander Signature Hybrid, however, has various foam layers on top of its inner-springs. These layers aid the bed absorb motion to a large extent. When I tossed and turned next to my colleague, you couldn’t identify much motion in her body. She detailed that she could feel the movement, but detection was minimal. In spite of this, the mattress still exhibits good bounce.
If you have mobility issues, moving around while lying down can be hard. Traditional memory foam usually caused a lot of sinkage that it made it hard to move around. But if you have too much bounce, it’s easy to disturb rest.
You will face some sinkage using the Alexander Signature Hybrid because of its plush foam uppermost layers. But this sinking feeling differs from what you’d achieve with a more traditional memory foam bed as it’s reduced by the mattress’ supportive pocketed coil system. This means you’ll sink, but will still be able to move around easily and get out of the bed without too much work. While there’s some sinkage here, it is not quite as striking as it would be about a conventional memory foam mattress. This makes for exceptional pressure relief without that stuck-in-the-bed experience.
The inner-spring coil support base of the Alexander Signature Hybrid works to fortify its edges. This provides a flat sleeping surface across the whole mattress and helps prevent sinkage and sagging around the perimeter of the bed. The inner-spring coils are excellent at setting that strong core you want. When I moved in various positions, I felt fairly well-supported. I can feel and you could actually see where I do sink in a quite a bit, but the sinkage from the mattress ends where the inner-spring coils begin. Despite the plush foam uppermost layers, this bed is extremely supportive, thanks to the eight inches of individually-wrapped coils in its foundation. It’s very effortless to get in and out of the mattress, and I am well–supported when I lie on the border, a great plus for sleep partners.
The Alexander Signature Hybrid is relatively cool. The inner-spring coils permit sufficient airflow, helping to reduce body warmth. The foam layers, which in most cases trap warmth, are infused with cooling gel and copper to offset this common issue. This bed is a fantastic fit for people who prefer to rest cool. This hybrid does a wonderful job of dispersing and isolating heat, resulting in a resting feeling that’s marvelously cool.

After an Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress is manufactured, it is compressed, vacuum-sealed in plastic and sent to your doorstep in a marked box. Whenever a mattress is compressed and vacuum-sealed, it has a tendency to have a temporary smell when it’s unboxed. This odor is known as “off-gassing.” You can anticipate to see this with the Alexander Signature Hybrid, but the odor should dissipate fast.
